Our Curriculum

At Bedayati nursery we follow the British EYFS curriculum and all our staff are fully trained and knowledgeable on the most up to date version from 2021. The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework is in accordance with the British National Curriculum, where great emphasis is placed on the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop in a healthy and safe environment. It also promotes the importance of teaching and learning to ensure that children are ’school ready’ and gives children the range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for future progress throughout school and life.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has7 areas of learning; 3 prime areas (communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional) and 4 specific areas (mathematics, literacy, expressive arts and design and understanding the world). The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is known as one of the leading curriculums for young children.

Communication and Language

This area of learning is focussed around developing children’s speaking and listening skills, they’re building the foundations for literacy and learning. They are also learning skills on how to express themselves and communicate with their peers.

Physical development

Physical development is an essential property of cognitive development- as children move and explore the world around them they learn about the properties of objects and their own capabilities. Physical development is essential in enhancing children’s fine and gross motor skills and is a fundamental aspect of their learning and development.

Personal, social and emotional development (PSED)

One of the huge benefits of children attending a child care setting is the access to being able to interact with other children their own age. Learning social skills and developing an understanding of others emotions is a fundamental aspect of life in order to become independent.

Mathematics

Mathematics helps young children to problem solve, measure and develop their own spatial awareness, along with how to use and understand shape. Children should therefore be exposed to mathematics from a young age to get the fundamental skills that will help them through out life.

Literacy

It is so important for children to gain a life long love of reading. That’s why at Bedayati we have a dedicated reading area in each classroom. In this area of learning children learn phonetical awareness which is the recognition of different sounds and letters, this will then help them to be able to read and write.

Understanding the word

Children need to gain an understanding of their past and present. This area of the curriculum does this by Understanding and guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community.

Expressive Arts and Design

This area of the curriculum is for the development of children’s imaginations, creativity and their ability to use media and materials. Children do this through a range of different activities such as singing songs, making music, role play, playing with colours, textures and design.
